To BE or NOT TO BE

I didn’t study too much of Shakespeare in high school.  The only play that stands out in my mind was THE MERCHANT OF VENICE! I loved PORTIA and wanted to be like her when I grew up!

There are so many GREAT men and women in this worlds (I refer to them as the GREATS) and I believe they were chosen before they were born to become such.  Shakespeare’s soliloquoy from HAMLET has become a powerful piece of verse in my life over the last few years. Let’s revisit it shall we?

To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether ’tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The Slings and Arrows of outrageous Fortune,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them: to die, to sleep
No more; and by a sleep, to say we end
The heart-ache, and the thousand Natural shocks
That Flesh is heir to? ‘Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To die to sleep,
To sleep, perchance to Dream; Ay, there’s the rub,
For in that sleep of death, what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause. There’s the respect
That makes Calamity of so long life:
For who would bear the Whips and Scorns of time,
The Oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s Contumely, [poor]
The pangs of despised Love, the Law’s delay, [disprized]
The insolence of Office, and the Spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his Quietus make
With a bare Bodkin? Who would Fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscovered Country, from whose bourn
No Traveller returns, Puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have,
Than fly to others that we know not of.
Thus Conscience does make Cowards of us all,
And thus the Native hue of Resolution
Is sicklied o’er, with the pale cast of Thought,
And enterprises of great pitch and moment, [pith]
With this regard their Currents turn awry, [away]
And lose the name of Action. Soft you now,
The fair Ophelia? Nymph, in thy Orisons
Be all my sins remembered

Now…I’m still getting past TO BE or NOT TO BE….but those words are so powerful!

WE HAVE A CHOICE

Yes…we have a choice!

We choose whether we will let the outside influence of the world or of others affect us.

We choose whether we will be offended or insulted by comments that ‘stretch’ that EGO of ours.

We choose whether to be KIND to the person who flicked us the birdie because of our questionable driving

We choose whether to be GRATEFUL in a time when we feel we are lacking abundance or joy

We choose, we choose, we choose!

There is always a choice and as a great speaker once said “Offense is a CHOICE” as I believe a barrage of other AWFUL FEELINGS and EMOTIONS are.

PUTTING IT INTO PRACTICE

Now, I’m not the best at doing this, but I try.  However, yesterday, whilst speaking to someone online that I had outsourced some work to, I was able to put this into practice.

After she had done some work for me, I had rated feedback according to what I thought was granted.  I didn’t ‘voice’ my displeasure in her work (and that was my fault), but I didn’t rate too well either, in her eyes.  She got extremely upset and stated that I had ‘insulted her intelligence’ and what I had rated was ‘offensive.’

Now, in previous years, this would get my back up! I would REACT and not RESPOND.  I would feel it personally and would take it on board energetically.  This didn’t happen yesterday.  I have come to realize, I can’t please everybody all of the time and the most important person that I feel I need to answer to, is God.

IT’S NOT BETWEEN ME AND THEM….IT’S BETWEEN ME AND HIM!

Wayne Dyer

So the way I treat the ‘other’ person, has nothing to do with them and I, but Him and I.
